Bernice H. Givens, 100, of Palmyra, passed away with family by her side on Friday, November 30, 2018. Born October 14, 1918 to the late John R. and Emma (Boyer) Heagy, she was predeceased by her loving husband Alvin L. Givens in 1982.
Bernice had a natural ability for leading children to Jesus. She taught Good News Clubs for Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF) for years and also taught children in her local church. CEF was a ministry she shared with Alvin, her husband. She was a prayer warrior with a passion for missions as well as a mentor and guide to help others.
Most importantly she was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Bernice is survived by her children: Marlin H. and wife Rosalyn, Paul H. and wife Elaine, David H. and wife Elizabeth, Robert H. and wife Carol, Hal H. and wife Pam, and Elvin H. Givens; 15 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 2 PM at the DiMatteo Worship Center in the Snell Community Center, 406 Community Circle, Palmyra, PA 17078 with Pastor Chandler Cutting, Pastor Joe Carter, Pastor Jonathan Witmer, and Chaplain Mary Eller officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 1 PM until the time of the service. There will be a private family burial at Shopes Mennonite Cemetery, Highspire.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in her memory to The Good Samaritan Fund, at the Londonderry Village, 1200 Grubb Rd., Palmyra, PA 17078.
