Cindy L. Zimmerman, 59, of Elizabethtown passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 after a hard fought battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Lebanon, she was the daughter of Ruth A. (Fisher) Showers and the late Donald E. Showers. She will be lovingly missed by her husband of 37 years, Jack M. Zimmerman.
Cindy was the matriarch of her family, pulling her band of misfits together. Her world revolved around her family, especially her grandchildren. Many considered her a second mother. Cindy loved the outdoors. She spent many weekends in the mountains and at the beach with her family. Some of her favorite hobbies included hunting and fishing. Her family often teased that she was a better hunter than her husband (a better cook too). Above all, she was the strongest woman that her family knew. Even through all of the pain and obstacles she faced during her battle with pancreatic cancer she stayed strong and fought as hard as she could. She never let her cancer define her.
In addition to her husband and mother, Cindy is survived by five children: Jason Zimmerman (Keshia) of Elizabethtown, Rebecca Stapleton (John) of Atlanta, GA, Amy Tressler (Eric) of Duncannon, Ashley Whalen (Matthew) of Harbeson, DE, and Jack Zimmerman (Jennifer) of Elizabethtown; eleven grandchildren: Reagan, Jacob & Isabelle Zimmerman, Maia & Amelia Stapleton, Hunter & Oliver Tressler, Connor & Tanner “The Beast” Whalen, and Sophia & Zoey Zimmerman; four siblings: Mary Jane Kleinfelter, Edward Showers, Sr., April Balthaser and Ronald Showers. She was preceded in death by her mother and father in law, Helen & Melvin Zimmerman.
A Funeral Service will be held at noon on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown, PA 17022. A viewing will be held from 11-noon prior to the service. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
