Clayton G. Shenk, Sr., 99, formerly of Bachmanville, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 9, 2018 at the Hershey Medical Center, surrounded by his loving children. Born Wednesday, September 11, 1918, in Manheim, he was the son of the late David and Katie (Gibble) Shenk. He was married to Gladys C. (Cooper) Shenk for over 59 years until her death on Wednesday, November 17, 2004.
A Veteran of WWII, Clayton proudly served with the U.S. Army.
He is survived by five children: Joanne (Bob) Hess, of Buchanan, MI; Donna Noel, of Palmyra; Clayton G. Shenk, Jr., of Mount Joy; Rick (Kelly) Shenk, of Knoxville and Karen (Rick) Bechtel, of Hummelstown. Also surviving are a sister, Betty (Elvin) Snavely and 9 Grandchildren: Lonnie, Shelli, Michael, Michelle, Kyle, Matt, April, Bradley and Richard; 24 Great Grandchildren: Jared, Scott, Kelsi, Drew, Ryne, Kody, Abrionna, James, Rosetta, Jordan, Carter, Alexis, Tre, Hayden, MaKenzie, Ryan, Tristan, Kaycie, Riley, Addison, Cameron, Lexi, Lia and Paisley as well as two Great Great Grandchildren, Averie and Brinley. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kelly; four siblings: Jay, Howard and David Shenk and Dorothy Sauders as well as a son-in-law, Dave Noel.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 16, 2018 at Conewago Church of the Brethren, 7035 Schoolhouse Road, Hershey, PA 17033 with Pastor Scott Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Chiques Hill Cemetery, Manheim, with military honors. A viewing will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service on Friday.
