Don Bosserman Obituary

Don Leroy Bosserman of Elizabethtown, resident of Masonic Village Health Care, died on September 28, 2018.  Born in York, PA in 1939, he was the son of the late Lester Bosserman and Blanche [Bowser] Bosserman.  Don is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carol [Ness] Bosserman, and daughters: Michelle Kessler [Richard] of Fairfield CT, Susan Bosserman [OlivierDeschryver] of Gilroy CA, and Kelly Pham [Lam] of Lancaster PA; and grandchildren Leo Kessler, Nikolas and Kyla Pham, and Samantha Deschryver.

Don graduated from West York High School and Elizabethtown College with a degree in accounting and business administration.  He built a career with AMP, Inc. where he began in accounting and later worked as a materials control manager in the International Division, the Automotive Division, and opened a duty free warehouse in El Paso Texas.  Associated with his work Don travelled to many parts of Europe, Asia, Mexico, and South America.

Don had an excellent work ethic, quick sense of humor, and great love for wife and family. He was a keen observer of nature.  He enjoyed camping, swimming, boating, waterskiing, photography, and model railroading.  Our annual family reunion at Wrightsville Beach each summer was a highlight.  Living in the desert of New Mexico developed an interest in the southwest Native American culture and extensive travel throughout the Southwestern United States.  In addition Don and Carol travelled to Europe, Australia, New Zealand, and most states of the United States.

Don was an outgoing person who enjoyed meeting people.  He was involved in community activities such as West Donegal Township’s Zoning Hearing Board, Mt Joy Township’s Board of Supervisors, the Milanof Schock Library Board, the founding committee of Gears, and was a life deacon at the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren. Don cared deeply about the earth and felt it was important to preserve the earth’s care which guided his interest in local zoning boards.   He was a Masonic traveller and member of the Abraham C. Treichler Lodge 682, F. & A.M., Elizabethtown.

The family thanks friends who came to see Don during his long illness and thanks the Health Care Center of Masonic Village for the care he received.

A life celebration will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, 777 S. Mt Joy St, Elizabethtown, PA  17022 at 12:00 PM with visitation from 11:00- 11:50 AM; followed by visitation and luncheon in the Fellowship Hall.
