Donald Keith Hoover

 

 

Donald Keith Hoover, 80, of Gretna Springs Retirement Community, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2015 surrounded by his loving family at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.  He was born Saturday, December 15, 1934 to the late Marguerite (Bistline) Shields and was raised in Newville, Cumberland County, PA.  He was married to Shelia A. (Kemp) Hoover on March 7, 1965.

 

A Veteran, Don proudly served with the U.S. Army.   He was an antique dealer for over 35 years and was the former owner of Furnace Hill Antiques, Campbelltown. 

 

He enjoyed fishing and gardening and was an avid Phillies Fan.  Above all, Don enjoyed spending time with his family and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

 

In addition to his wife of over 50 years, he will be lovingly missed by two children: Donald K. Hoover, Jr., of Manheim; Tracy L. Drescher and husband Charles, of Mount Joy; four grandchildren, Matthew Hoover, Sara Herneisen, Justin and Nicole Drescher, a great grandson, Austin Herneisen as well as Don’s extended family and caring friends.  He was predeceased by two brothers, Richard and Lee Hoover as well as a sister, Arlene Shughart.

 

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at West Green Tree Church of the Brethren, 740 Greentree Road, Elizabethtown, PA  17022 with Pastor Mick Allen officiating.  Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to visit with the family at the Church on Saturday from 1 PM until the time of the service.  Private burial will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022.
