Doris Ann (Balthaser) Wiener

Doris Ann (Balthaser) Wiener, 85, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, surrounded by her loving family, in her home at Masonic Village of Elizabethtown. Born Friday, November 28, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Harry B. and Bertha (Flickinger) Balthaser. She was married to Charles “Bud” W. Wiener, III for over 60 years until his death on Friday, March 16, 2012.

Doris was a 25-year volunteer for the Delaware County Memorial Hospital Women’s Auxiliary Thrift Shop and several years as chairperson. She was the owner of Nuts But Happy in the Lancaster County Farmers Market along with managing the store front of her husbands family business, Wiener’s Bakery. Growing up as a veterinarian daughter she found great joy in helping animals and had many pets. Doris, Bud, and their children spent summer vacations camping in upstate New York and Maine. Family was precious to her and she adored her many grand children and great-grand children. She will be remembered for her compassionate heart and determined spirit.

She will be lovingly missed by three children: Kenneth C. Wiener and wife, Barbara, of Coatesville; Doris A. “Dolly” Daughtry and husband, Larry, of Hamburg; Virginia S. “Ginny” Winderman and husband, Lee, of Media as well as 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was the beloved friend to Richard “Buff” Buffington.

A celebration of Doris’s Life will be held at 11AM on Sunday August 28, 2016 in her home, 514 McKinley Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Private burial will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022, 717-367-1543.
