Ellsworth Francis “Wid” Widmer
Ellsworth Francis “Wid” Widmer, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. Born Friday, August 23, 1929 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Carson C. and Sara Jane McKinley (Francis) Widmer and on June 10, 1950, was married to his high school sweetheart, Regina W. (Weller) Widmer.
In 1993, he retired from Good’s Furniture, New Holland where he worked for numerous years. After retiring, Wid enjoyed working at the Manheim Auto Auction. He was an avid golfer but above all, he was a loving husband, devoted father and proud grandfather.
In addition to his wife of over 66 years, he is survived by three children: Dr. Larry F. Widmer and his spouse, Daniel J. Bigelow, of Santa Fe, New Mexico; Barbara A. and spouse, Jerry C. Bradley, of Mountville; Donna M. Plourde and significant other, John A. Baumgardner, of Lititz; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a sister, Elaine and husband, Richard Goho, of Dauberville; as well as Wid’s extended family and caring friends. He was predeceased by two brothers, Willard and Wayne Widmer.
A viewing will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, September 23, 2016 in Sell Chapel at Masonic Village, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Funeral Services will be held 12 Noon on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022, 717-367-1543. There will also be a viewing at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Millersville Mennonite Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Wid’s honor to a charity of one’s choice.
