Eugene H. Haldeman, Sr.

Eugene H. “Pop” Haldeman, Sr., 85, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018 at Susquehanna Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation. Born Monday, November 7, 1932 in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late Phares and Mabel G. (Haak) Haldeman. He was married 66 years to Virginia F. (Wolford) Haldeman also of Elizabethtown.

Gene was a member of Glad Tidings Church in Middletown. He was retired from the Elizabethtown Water Authority where he worked for over 45 years. He was a life member and trustee of Friendship Fire and Hose Company #1, Elizabethtown. An avid hunter, he was a member of the Blaine Sportsmans Club and built a cabin in Blaine, Perry County that he enjoyed for over 35 years. Gene also enjoyed going to Ocean City, MD, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: a daughter Lucinda M. Bowman; Eugene H. Haldeman, Jr. and wife Marion A.; Phares William Haldeman and wife Patricia J. and Daniel L. Haldeman and wife Bonnie J., all of Elizabethtown; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Gene was the last of four siblings.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church, 190 Fulling Mill Road, Middletown, PA 17057 at 11:00 AM. Viewing will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will take place in Goods Cemetery, Elizabethtown.
