Helen S. (Hernley) Keiper

Helen S. (Hernley) Keiper, 91, of Lancaster, formerly of Elizabethtown, went home to her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 10, 2019. She was born to the late Henry and Emma (Snyder) Stauffer of Manheim. Helen graduated from Lancaster Mennonite School. She retired from Union National Bank of Maytown and was a member of Elizabethtown Mennonite Church.

Helen was the wife of the late Paul Miller Hernley with whom she hade three sons and two daughters: Donald (Elizabeth) of VA; Lois Summers wife of Peter Belanger of Stevens; Phyllis (Robert) Spotts of East Petersburg, David (Renee) and Dale (Lois) both of Elizabethtown. Helen was also the wife of the late Dr. Richard Keiper of Elizabethtown. She is survived by a step daughter Lisa Jo (Jim) Funk of Green Lane and a step son Richard of Lebanon. Helen is also survived by a brother Howard (Arlene) Stauffer and a sister in law Grace Stauffer wife of the late Reverend Clarence Stauffer. The joy of her life were the children, eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Helen was preceded in death by one granddaughter.

Helen volunteered at the Mount Joy Gift and Thrift Shop, the Mennonite Home and at Wood Crest where ever she was needed. She also enjoyed being part of the drama group at Wood Crest. The group performed for the residents and to some outside groups at community centers and churches. Helen also loved to sew and made many comforters for her family and Elizabethtown Sewing Circle. She loved gardening and growing African Violets of many varieties. Her favorite times were spent with her family.

A private burial was held. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Elizabethtown Mennonite Church, 300 South Spruce Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 at 3:00 PM
