Andy Clay & family,

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. Your father was a wonderful person. I was in Boy Scout Troop 96 with Andy. I wanted to extend my condolences. I still remember how hard that Andy worked, with his Dad's (& Mom's) encouragement, to earn his Eagle Scout award. Take care and I'll keep all of you in my prayers.

I was a Partner in the Dykema Law Firm, involved in management the entire time that Henry was the Partner in Charge of Administration. He was essentially our Chief Operating Officer. It was a difficult job. Henry performed his responsibilities admirably, with diligence and good grace. He oversaw the firm's transition into the age of computers During the process we became good friends. We continued to correspond in retirement, usually in the form of the latest good joke (obviously clean) Henry found on the internet. I will miss him greatly.

I shall always have fond memories of Henry Clay. At Mariners' Church of Detroit, he served as an epitoler/lay reader and as a trustee. Due to his hard work and due diligence, our church not only won its lawsuit against the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan, but it went on to maintain to this very day, its free and independent legal status, using the 1928 Book of Common Prayer for all services.

Henry and I were partners on Good Fridays. Alongside each other, we read the Stations of the Cross, which so vividly depicted Christ's journey to crucifixion.

I looked up to this Christian gentleman. A man of honor, who never sought self-aggrandizement, he carried himself with confidence and humility. His entire life was about service. Now he shall be rewarded in Heaven for his selfless deeds, where he will be joined in God's heavenly kingdom with his dear wife, Chris.

God bless you, Henry. Thanks for all that you did to preserve, protect, and defend Mariners' Church of Detroit. You are my hero.

I got to know Henry through bridge at Masonic He and Chris and Earl and Rita were determined to keep that game going. What a man! Certainly left his mark wherever he was and in everything he was involved. Went to visit a few weeks ago as a friend is there for rehab, but he was busy and out of room so left note. Rest In Peace dear Henry.

Steve, Andy,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your families. Later in life your dad and I shared in our quest for family genealogy and often shared discoveries. I have fond memories of both Uncle Henry and Aunt Chris and will always cherish them. He will live on in the many accomplishments and personal impacts he's had on others.

RIP Brother Henry.

I knew Henry from the Masonic Bridge Club I attended for 5 years. He was a gracious and organized and kind man who kept the club going on sheer determination. He had a marvelous sense of humor. Once I told him I was getting so many e-mails and he looked at me with a twinkle in his eye and said "you have a delete button". I looked forward to them so I asked to remain on the list even when I was no longer playing there.
His devotion and patience with Chris was an awesome example of how love can survive any crisis and I was humbled by seeing this. He thought about others and attempted to help anyone in anyway he could.
Reading this obituary helped me to understand his many accomplishments, none of which I was aware of and fill out the picture of the man who lived to enrich the lives of many.
I will miss his devotion and love of the game of bridge but his greater love for all of Gods creatures.
My condolences to his family and many friends.
Sincerely, Jane Church
