J. Robert Kettering, 87, was welcomed into the arms of our Lord on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at his home in Elizabethtown.  He was born on August 15, 1928 to the late Joseph Wilhelm and Olive M. (Grissinger) Kettering.  He was married to Faye E. (Gutshall) Kettering for over 65 years.  Faye died on February 1, 2015.

Robert was a member of the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren.  He enjoyed watching Penn State Football, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Bob worked for the former Ratcliff and Swartz Men’s Shop in Harrisburg for 40 years where he worked as a salesman and assistant buyer.  When they closed, he opened his own men’s shop known as K&F LTD in Harrisburg which he also co-operated for 10 years before retiring in 1995.

Mr. Kettering also enjoyed spending time with his wife and son at the shore and took pleasure in keeping his house and property looking nice.

He will be lovingly missed by a son, Jeffrey L. Kettering, of Elizabethtown.

Funeral Services will be held at the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown 17022, 717-367-1543 on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at 3 PM with closed casket visitation being held from 2-3 PM.  Private interment will be at the convenience of the family in Chiques Hill Cemetery, Manheim.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Robert’s honor to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA  17110 or to Reich’s Evangelical Congregational Church, 338 Stackstown Road, Marietta, PA 17547.
