Welcome to the memorial page for

Jack L. Hedrick

July 23, 1937 ~ November 15, 2016 (age 79) 79 Years Old

Jack LeGrande Hedrick, 79, of Elizabethtown passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, November 15, 2016. Born in Glen Rock, he was the son of the late Frank R. and Margaret A. (Dellinger) Hedrick. He was married for 45 years to the late Doris H. (Hostetter) Hedrick, and has actively celebrated her memory every day since her passing.

Jack graduated from Elizabethtown College in 1958 and went on to become a Professor of Chemistry at his alma mater. He enjoyed sharing his love of science with students, and took pride in making his courses both challenging and fun.  In addition to his passion for science, Jack actively researched local history through his hikes to local mining ghost towns.   His most recent passion was bringing science to his granddaughters, hoping to spark the next generation of scientists in the family.

He is survived by two sons, Joseph L. Hedrick, husband of Leah Mulcahey, of Kennett Square, and Robert B. Hedrick, husband of Stephanie Gage, of Rosemount, MN, and two granddaughters, Anna and Cassie Hedrick.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, 777 S. Mt. Joy St., Elizabethtown, PA with Pastor Ben Simmons officiating. Family will have a time of visitation following the service at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N.
