Jay S. Meads, 92, of Manheim and formerly of Lititz, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Center, Lititz. He was born Saturday, February 17, 1923 in Elizabethtown to Ralph C. and Kathryn (Shaeffer) Meads.

A Veteran of WWII, Jay proudly served with the U.S. Army where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He belonged to the VFW# 1463, Lititz as well as the American Legion #329 Elizabethtown and Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #596, Elizabethtown. He was also a member of Christ Church United Church of Christ, Elizabethtown.

Jay retired from the Warwick School District in 2000 where he served as a custodian. Prior to the school district, he was employed at various shoe factories in Elizabethtown and Lititz.

He will be lovingly missed by numerous nieces and nephews as well as his extended family and caring friends. The last member of his immediate family, Jay was predeceased by his siblings, Richard, Lynn, Inez, Le Roy, Leo, Jessee, Julia and Kenneth.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 with the Rev. Dr. Galen E. Russell, III officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Tunnel Cemetery, Elizabethtown with Military Honors. Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to view at the funeral home from 10 AM until the time of the service on Thursday.
