Julian A. Richter Sr., 95, passed away on November 12, 2017, at the Masonic Village of Elizabethtown where he had resided for 15 years.

He was born in Merchantville, NJ, to the late Horace Freytag and Sophie Moe Richter, and resided in Philadelphia for most of his life.

He was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, serving as a classified documents courier throughout the US, Central and South America, and as a loadmaster on C47 transports in the China Burma India Theater.

He was employed by the City of Philadelphia after the war, rising from chainman on a survey crew to Chief of Projects Control for the Water Department.

He recently received his 70-year Masonic service pin, was a member of Abraham C. Treichler Lodge of Elizabethtown, served twice as master of Thomas R. Patton Lodge in Philadelphia and was a life member of several Masonic organizations. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America in Philadelphia.

Julian was predeceased by his wife, Laura (Barrett), and by brothers Horace, Christian, Wallace, Kenneth and John.

Surviving are a son, Julian Richter, husband of Cynthia, of Elizabethtown, a grandson, Joel Richter, husband of Megan, of New Hampshire, and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Ralph of Ohio and Robert of New York, and a sister, Louise, of New Hampshire.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service on Friday, November 24, 2017 at 11 a.m. in Sell Chapel at the Masonic Village of Elizabethtown, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA  17022. Visitation begins at 10:30 a.m.  Arrangements have been entrusted with the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022, 717-367-1543.
