Ned A. Masenheimer

 

 

Ned A. Masenheimer, 87, of Elizabethtown, passed away Friday, August 21, 2015 at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown.  He was born February 8, 1928 in Hanover, PA to the late Preston L. and Effie (Jones) Masenheimer.  He was married to Phyllis (Blettner) Masenheimer. Ned was a 1946 graduate of Eichelberger High School, Hanover, PA and a 1950 graduate of Western Maryland College, Westminster, MD.

 

Ned proudly served as a Captain in the U.S. Army Reserve.  He worked for Campbell Chain Company/Cooper Industries in York, PA and Raleigh, NC for over 35 years.

 

His church affiliations included active membership and numerous leadership positions at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Hanover; St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, York; Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Raleigh, NC and Sell Chapel at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown.

 

Mr. Masenheimer was a member of the White Rose Lodge #706, Free and Accepted Masons, York, PA. He served as West York Area School District Board President; Member and President of the Board of Directors, Tressler Lutheran Service Associates / Tressler Lutheran Home for Children as well as treasurer of the York Forest, Tall Cedars of Lebanon.  Ned was also a member of the Men’s Chorus and the Model Flying Club at Masonic Village.

 

Ned will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and a man of great faith and integrity.  In addition to Phyllis, his wife and companion of nearly 65 years, he is survived by his four children: Cynthia M. Shultz and George, Bensalem, PA; Allen G. Masenheimer, Wycombe, PA; Susan L. Masenheimer, York; and David C. Masenheimer and Romain Frugé, New York, NY; four grandchildren: Brian Shultz and Jessica, Bensalem, PA; Gregory Masenheimer and Cami, Laurel, MD; Keith Masenheimer and Abby, Denver, CO; and John Masenheimer, Denver, CO; six great-grandchildren: Luis, Lexis, Aiden, Abagail, Owen and Tyler; a sister, Barbara Binkley (Ray) and a brother, Fred Masenheimer (Betsy).  He was preceded in death by his son Allen’s beloved wife, Lyn.

 

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, August 29, 2015 in Sell Chapel at Masonic Village, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022.  Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family beginning at 10 AM.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice Program at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown and mailed to Masonic Villages, Office of Gift Planning, One Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 or to Shriners Hospitals for Children, www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022.  Condolences and memories may be shared at www.millerfuneralhome.com.
