Vivian S. (Starr) McMullen, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown.  Born Friday, February 23, 1934 in Montoursville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alfred Charles Starr and Gertrude (Fry) Starr.  She was married to Harry O. McMullen on August 18, 1956.

In addition to her husband of over 60 years, she will be lovingly missed by numerous nieces, nephews as well as her extended family and caring friends.

She was a 1952 graduate of the Montoursville High School and Lock Haven State College.

Vivian always referred to the summer of 1956 as the most enjoyable time of her life. She graduated from Lock Haven State College with a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education in May of 1956, signed a contract to teach fourth grade in Jersey Shore Pa at the Broad Street Elementary School in June of 1956, found and furnished an apartment in Jersey Shore in July and then married Harry (Harp) McMullen on August 18, 1956.

Vivian taught for three years in Jersey Shore then she and her husband moved to Coatesville, Pa., where both taught at the Coatesville School District.

Vivian taught eight years in Coatesville then retired to spend time in service at the Olivet United Church where she started and developed the church library.  She was an active member of the church choir, and volunteered to take on any project that needed done.

Vivian was a very very strong supporter of the Coatesville Athletic Programs, especially the football and wrestling programs in which her husband was the head coach of each.

Although she was a busy lady, she found time to be a favorite Aunt to all the nieces and nephews in both the McMullen and Starr families.

Vivian shared her love of life, her contagious smile and the twinkle in her eyes with everyone she met.  Thus the nickname “Twink”.
