William H. Hawn

 

 

William Henry Hawn, 82, of Hershey, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2015 at the M.S. Hershey Medical Center.  He was born Wednesday, August 9, 1933 in Middletown to the late Henry W. and Fannie M. (Landis) Hawn.  He was married to Mary Jean (Breneman) Hawn on April 13, 1952.

 

Bill started working for AMP in 1953 and retired in 1998 after 45 years of service.  He and Mary Jean lived in Manheim before moving to Elizabethtown in 1965 where they lived for 12 years.  In 1977, they moved to Hershey and have been there ever since.

 

Mr. Hawn loved dogs, singing and playing his guitar, being his own handyman, tending his vegetable garden, camping, as well as spending time on his boat and attending Sandy Cove Bible Camp on the Chesapeake Bay.  Bill was a devout Christian who cherished his family and friends and desired for them to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  Above all, he will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

 

Bill attended Valley Baptist Church in Middletown where he served as deacon, treasurer, Sunday School Superintendant, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Director and sang in the choir.  He was currently an active member of Hershey Free Church where he was involved in the Barnabas Class, the Joy Choir as well as in the Sanctuary Choir including the Christmas and Easter Musicals.

 

In addition to his wife of over 63 years, he will be lovingly missed by six children: Kathleen B. Eshenour and husband Ken, of Hummelstown, Gerald B. Hawn and wife Marilyn, of Maytown, Deborah L. Parmer and husband Donald, of Elizabethtown, Beth Ann Moad and husband Mark, of Hummelstown, James W. Hawn, of Palmyra; Daniel S. Hawn and wife Ann, of Elizabethtown; 11 grandchildren: Crystal Lucas, Troy Funck, Jeremy Hawn, Todd Hawn, Joey Parmer, Jason Parmer, Jonathan Parmer, Laura Suggs, Gregory Moad, Jessica Moad and Katelyn Yefimov; 12 great grandchildren: Cole Lucas, Jake Lucas, Emalyn Funck, Aubre Funck, Sarah Parmer, Austin Parmer, Isabella Parmer, Wyatt Parmer. Juliette Parmer, Tanner Parmer, Jaxson Parmer and Lucy Moad; two sisters, Anna Margaret Wise, of Middletown and Doris Richcreek, of Highspire, as well as Bill’s extended family and caring friends.

 

A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at the Hershey Free Church, 330 Hilltop Road, Hummelstown, PA  17036 with Bill’s friend, Pastor Jerry Berrier officiating.  Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Manheim.  Relatives and Friends are respectfully invited to view at the church from 9:00AM until the time of the service on Saturday.  Arrangements entrusted to the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022.
