Didn't know about Zoe's passing until her Thanksgiving card was returned. So sorry. Would love to connect with any of the Proctors still around. Will miss Zoe.

Zoe was a tough, but fair professor with a dry wit. Being one of the handful of Medical Technology students and one of her lab assistants, we interacted often. She was always willing to answer questions, honestly and frankly, often knowing what the questions were before they were asked. Her guidance led to my 40 years as a Med Tech. After Randy & I settled in Etown, our paths crossed occasionally and she always asked how he and our family were doing.
Our condolences to her family and friends.

Aunt Zoe will always be in my heart. I’m just sorry I could make it home from Kuwait to say goodbye. I will never forget her and I will always miss and love her. The BEST Aunt ever.

I have memories of sweating through one of Ms. Proctor's recitation classes where we spent the hour at the blackboard. While she gave us the names of reactants, our job was to write the correct chemical formulas with the resultant products. I remember thinking that if I made it through a year of Organic Chemistry, I might make it as a Medical Technologist (not everyone did!).

Thank you for your support and dedication to the chemistry students, the Medical Technology program and Elizabethtown College.

She was rough on the outside but a real softy on the inside. That firm exterior never fooled me, Ms. Proctor. You may have been firm, but you were fair. I wanted to visit with you this past autumn at the reunion. Perhaps that is when you initially felt ill. I'm sorry to have missed you. You were an excellent professor. I learned and retained many of your teachings. Those benzene rings still dance in my head some nights. I am forever grateful for your instruction as your lessons continue to reach in my profession of medicine.

"So you think you want to be a medical technologist. We have 45 students registered, but only 15 of you will finish as med techs!" What a scary first meeting with my advisor. But she was right. If I remember correctly, only 14 of us graduated as med techs.
I wish I could thank her again for being TOUGH and always expecting THE BEST from us, but also for being compassionate and always there to help.
I'm grateful for her guidance, and grateful that I was able to visit her at the Masonic Village, too.

So sad to hear of Zoe Procto's passing. I was one of the first students she counseled for Medical Technology. She pushed my limits with organic chemistry and gave me a good start on how to present a topic long before PowerPoint was around. I often refrigerator back to how she taught us to learn. Thank you for your service. RIP.

Sorry to hear about this loss. Having stayed in E-town after EC studies, I did run into Zoe periodically, often at home coming. Always fun to talk to share updates and thoughts. She always had an interest in her students and kept an interest even after graduation. She made a great contribution to a great group of profs who prepped us for careers and life. Thanks Zoe.

I was in Zoe's first organic class at E-town. She was tough but we chem majors learned so much and ended up having fun in spite of the difficulty. Later when I was a freshman lab instructor we became good friends. As time passed we didn't get to see each other much but always picked up wherever we left off. She will be missed and my condolences to her family.

My fondest memories of Elizabethtown College include the years I spent in Zoe Proctor’s classes and as her Lab Assistant. I was baffled every day by her slow strut into every class sans notes. She would immediately scribble pictures of Benzene rings and formulas apparently etched into her brain. She was always prepared.
“You so called whiz kids…” was the way she addressed one Organic Chemistry lab after the majority of the classed flubbed an experiment. She has duly humbled many future scientists who were a little more impressed with themselves than was merited. And although the phrase “Just Do It” has been attributed to NIKE since 1988, I am a witness to the fact that it was Zoe who first coined that phrase in 1983. It was launched after I asked her the details of an experiment for the 4th or 5th time. I’ve repeated that phrase to myself many times when I needed to have a little more confidence in my decisions.
That was the balance I learned from Zoe Proctor; lower mountains, and raise valleys. I will benefit from her influences forever.

So sad to learn of Ms Proctor's passing.
She was a role model and inspiration during my time at Elizabethtown. Always tough, but always fair, and always supportive.

Ms. Proctor is the reason I'm an organic chemist. Her passion for teaching excellence was contagious! RIP, you will always be remembered in the hallways of Musser Hall and your legacy is felt across all those Etown graduates you touched.

Zoe was the best aunt ever! She will never know how much she influenced my life. A big emptiness exists now that she is gone, but we know she is walking the streets of gold in Heaven now.

I have many fond memories of hallway conversations with Zoe during the years we overlapped at Elizabethtown College. You set a high bar that many of us have tried to reach over the years. You will be missed.

Zoe,
So shocked and saddened to learn of your passing. I never had the courage to tell you, but your teaching style had a significant influence on the development of mine: uncompromising whenever necessary, sprinkled with generous doses of forgiveness as appropriate. After 40+ years in the profession, I am still learning your lessons. Thanks for the advice!
