John W. Myers, Sr.

John W. Myers, Sr., 80, of Grantville, the angels came for him on Saturday, March 16, 2024 at Hershey Medical Center. Born Wednesday, February 2, 1944 in Dillsburg, he was the son of the late William Penrose and Mary (McCurdy) Myers. He was married over 33 years to Lois M. (Beck) Myers.

John was retired from Bethlehem Steel where he worked as a crane operator for 53 years. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Union and was a member of the Steelton Moose. He was a dedicated supporter of numerous volunteer fire departments. John enjoyed fishing but he most loved and cherished his family, and his dogs Rufus and Brutus.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son John W. Myers, Jr. (Deborah) of Mechanicsburg; three step daughters: Bonnie Summy (Roger) of Camp Hill; Laurie Felty (Lee) of Palmyra and Margie May (Dave Hershey) of Reinholds; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a sister Martina Baker (David) of Virginia. John was predeceased by a son Robert Myers and a brother Penrose Myers, Jr.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s memory may be made to Humane Society of Harrisburg Area, 7790 Grayson Road, Harrisburg, PA 17111.
