ALICE E. GALL
Alice E. Gall, 89, of Lancaster, formerly of Mount Joy, went home to be with her Lord on August 26, 2009 surrounded by her family. Born in Conoy Twp., she was the daughter of the late George F. and Jennie (Longenecker) Lehman. She was the wife of the late Allen A. Gall who died in 1961. Mrs. Gall was a life-long member of Elizabethtown Mennonite Church, where she was a member of the sewing circle. She made hundreds of quilts and comfort tops for the Mennonite Central Committee. Alice was a remarkable mother, raising five children and providing a loving, caring home, mostly on her own. She was employed for 18 years as a kitchen aide at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown. Mrs. Gall previously worked in the Conewago Elementary School cafeteria. She was an avid Phillies fan, enjoyed card and board games and also volunteered at the Gift & Thrift Shop in Mount Joy. She especially loved spending time with her family and never refused a visit. In addition to her husband and parents, Alice was preceded in death by a sister: Ruth Givens, two brothers: Wayne and Glenn Lehman and son-in-law: Steven Grass. She is survived by five children: Barbara A., wife of Herbert Keener, Lebanon; Linda F., wife of Paul Swanger, Bainbridge; Marlene E., wife of David Kilheffer, Millersville; Martha J., wife of Dennis Mast, Goshen, IN; Stanley A, husband of Brenda Gall, Elizabethtown; 15 grandchildren; six great grandchildren and two brothers; Mahlon and Ammon Lehman. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2009 at Elizabethtown Mennonite Church, 300 South Spruce Street, Elizabethtown at 11:00 AM. Friends may call on Friday at the church from 6:30-8:30 and on Saturday from 10:00 until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mennonite Central Committee, 21 South 12th Street, Akron, PA 17501.
