GRACE PECK DORION

Grace Peck Dorion, 97 of Elizabethtown, formerly of Dover, passed into eternal rest on Saturday, November 28, 2009 at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown. Born January 1, 1912 in Fair Haven, VT, she was the daughter of the late John Schuyler Colfax Peck, Sr. and Polly Marie (Rowland) Peck. Her husband of 57 years, Harry Paul Dorion died in 1998.
Mrs. Dorion was a graduate of Castleton University and Millersville University and also attended the University of Vermont. . She taught in a three room school house in Cavendish, VT to first graders in the morning, and then music and art to older children in the afternoon. She also taught in Springfield, VTand retired in 1986 from the Dover Area School District where she taught at Dover Elementary School for 14 years. She loved working with children, especially the teaching of reading.
Grace was a member of St. John Chrysostom Orthodox Church, York; the Woman's Club of York; DAR; Delta Kappa Gamma; was active in the Republican Party and served on the formation committee to establish the Dover Library. Additionally, she was a member of various choirs and Philadelphia Matinee Musicals.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Henrietta Carolyn Peck and Katherine Blanche Smithbauer, and a brother: John S. C. Peck, Jr.
She is survived by two daughters: Karen D., wife of David W. Stauffer and Heather L., wife of Darrel W.Dorion; two granddaughters: Kirsten L. Stauffer and Monique A., wife of Kevin Klunk, and a great granddaughter, Riley Marie Klunk.
The family appreciated the loving care given to Grace the past four years at the Masonic Health Care Center in Elizabethtown.
The Funeral will take place on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at St. John Chrysostom Orthodox Church, 2397 North Sherman Street, York, PA 17402 at 11:00 AM. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Interment will follow in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the York County Library System or the Benevolent Fund at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown.
