Anna M. Layfield

Anna M. Layfield, 90, of Elizabethtown, formerly of Coatesville, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Masonic Village in Elizabethtown. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Emma S. (Waidley) Moore. She was preceded in death in 2015 by her husband of nearly 66 years, Preston J. Layfield.

Anna graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1949 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She went on to West Chester State University, earning a Master of Education. Anna was a member of the Brandywine Hospital Auxiliary and the owner of Pins and Needles, a needle craft store.  She volunteered at Colonial Williamsburg during the years she and Preston lived in Virginia.  Above all she felt her number one job in life was being a wife and mother to her family.

She is survived by two daughters: Mary Beth Law (Douglas) of Virginia Beach, VA and Rebecca Layfield of Downingtown; two grandchildren, Ryan Law and Caitlin Bellina (Matthew); and three great grandchildren, James, Kipling, and Paxton Bellina.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Sell Chapel of Masonic Village, 1 Masonic Drive, Elizabethtown, PA 17022, with The Reverend A. Preston Van Deursen officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11.  Burial will be private at Fairview Cemetery, Coatesville.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown, PA 17022. 717-367-1543

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions my be made to the Masonic Children’s Home Endowment Fund and mailed to Masonic Villages, Office of Gift Planning, 1 Masonic Dr., Elizabethtown, PA 17022.
