Betty F. (Deitrich) Shuman

Betty F. Shuman, 96, formerly of Elizabethtown, passed away on Sunday, August 27, 2017 at the Mennonite Home, Lancaster.  Born September 9, 1920, in Elizabethtown, she was the daughter of the late William P. and Elizabeth H. (Fair) Deitrich.  She was married to George W. “Bud” Shuman for over 72 years until his death on November 29, 2013.

Betty was a faithful and active member of the First Church of God of Elizabethtown for 82 years and was involved in various committees and groups within the church.  In addition to being a homemaker, Betty retired from the Risser Garment Company, Elizabethtown.  Above all, she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Hoffman (Benjamin) and Jacqueline Gainer (Larry).  Also surviving are six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by three brothers, Jerald, Elwood and Raymond Deitrich and a great grandson, Benjamin Hoffman.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 1, 2017 at the First Church of God of Elizabethtown, 144 South Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022.  A viewing will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service.  The Graveside Service will be at 2 PM in Cross Roads Cemetery, Mount Joy.  Arrangements have been entrusted with the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022, 717-367-1543. 

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Betty’s honor to First Church of God of Elizabethtown.
