Bruce R. Bender

Bruce R. Bender, 78, of Mount Joy, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital.  Born Saturday, February 22, 1941 in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Calvin W. and Carrie L. “Cas” (Kissinger) Bender.  He was married to Carol Ann (Lehman) Bender for over 46 years until her death on Thursday, April 26, 2018.

Bruce retired from Burnham Commercial Boilers, Lancaster where he worked for over 30 years.  After retirement, he sold campers/RV’s for Gale Kline RV Center, Inc. in Mountville.  He enjoyed camping, his pets, rooting for the Washington Redskins but above all, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his children: Jolene Sponhower and husband, Kevin; Todd Bender; Tracy Bender; Rhonda Turner; Bret Bender; Bruce Bender; Rochelle Graf and Brian Bender.  Also surviving are his grandchildren: Samantha L. Sponhower, Ashley M. (Sponhower), married to Ryan P. Uhler; two great grandchildren: Caleb P. and Cameron M. Uhler; two sisters, Glenda Zohn; Darlee Davis and two brothers: Galen and Doug Bender.  He was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Klinefelter.

Services and Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted with the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022, 717-367-1543.
