Cora McClune Obituary

Cora T. (Tangert) McClune, 85, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2019, at Masonic Village, Elizabethtown.  Born October 20, 1933, in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Edna Iva (Kamm) Tangert.  She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 64 years, Abram J. McClune.

A graduate of J.P. McCaskey high school and Millersville University, Cora taught first grade at Higbee Elementary before retiring to become a fulltime homemaker. She had many interests and skills, including sewing, upholstering, crocheting, quilling, Scherenschnitte, and wreath-making. She resided in Shiremanstown, PA, for 40 years, and attended Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, where she volunteered with United Methodist Women’s Society, helped to co-lead the youth group with her husband, and served at fundraisers. Cora also volunteered with Girl Scouts of America and at the Children’s Center in Harrisburg. After moving to Masonic Village in 2006, she and her husband were greeters for new residents at Masonic Village, and she knitted items for the James Buchanan gift shop. An aficionado of classical music, Cora attended many concerts of the Harrisburg and Lancaster Symphony Orchestras. She was an avid reader and life-long learner.

In addition to her husband, Cora is survived by a loving daughter, Lauren M. Krak, married to Dr. Ronald V. Krak, of Lititz.  Also surviving are three beloved adult grandchildren: Natalie M., who is engaged to marry Stephen Latanishen, Louie V., and David R.
