Denise L. (Current) Criste

Denise “De” Lorraine Criste, age 59, was surrounded by her family as she was called home to Our Lord unexpectedly in Lancaster General Hospital on October 7, 2018. A memorial service will be held at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at 7 PM. Visitation with family will be from 5PM until the time of service.

Denise (Current) Criste was born in Los Angeles, California on March 18,1959.  She grew up in Moon Township, PA and graduated from Moon Area High School in 1978. On June 11, 1988 she married Daniel C. Criste of Moon Township. They moved to Elizabethtown, PA in 2001. Denise worked as a store manager for Darrenkamps Family Grocery store from 2010 until their recent closing on October 1, 2018.  Her passion for that job exuded daily.  She loved her store customers and their families.  Her spirit in the store was always visible with smiles, laughter, and balloon giving to the children.  In the 1980’s Denise was a very talented lead singer in a band called “Blue Dawn” that traveled along the east coast performing for 9 years.  Denise had an amazing number of followers (groupies) who always brought more smiles and love to her heart. 

She eventually chose to have a duet and create a new band called “Take Two”.  The karaoke era arrived and De continued to entertain her followers with her astounding singing until her true passion was blessed upon her…Motherhood. She traded singing to many crowds with lullabies for her babies.  Although her beautiful voice was truly a gift from God there was no greater joy for Denise than motherhood. She was happiest when she was with her children, smiling brightly as she proudly spoke of their upcoming home visits, celebrating humbly about their many accomplishments, and planning the many taco dinners for their friends.

Denise is survived by her spouse, Daniel Criste, of Elizabethtown, her two pride and joys- son Kyle Daniel Criste (girlfriend Heather) of Gainesville FL and daughter, Sunni Marie, of Elizabethtown. Her mother Lorraine Current of Moon Township, a sister, Debra Guiliani (Alan), of Moon Township, brothers, David Current (Joni), of Monaca, PA and Daryl Current (Rhonda), of Charlotte, NC. Aunts and uncles Patty Glatz (Joseph), Karin Weber (Will), MaryLou Van and  Patricia Lloyd. Nieces Kalena, Taylor (God-daughter), Erika, Marisa, Dayna, Megan and nephews Andrew and Ryan; mother in law Janet A. (Daugherty) Criste, Moon, PA; brother in law Robert L. Criste (Michele), Lancaster, PA; sisters in law: Kathleen Zrust (Frank), McDonald, PA and Susan Stroud (Charles), Moon, PA; many step-nieces, step-nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews, and an abundance of friends.

Her beloved father, Lawrence David Current, aunt Marty, grandmother Lena Coradi-Coburn and father in law C. Melvin Criste preceded her in death.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the American Cancer Society.
