Donald E. Kreider, 72, of Elizabethtown, entered the golden gates of heaven peacefully on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, surrounded by his loving family at Hospice & Community Care, Mount Joy. Born Wednesday, June 11, 1947, in Hershey, he was the son of the late Russell E. and Margaret P. (Nissley) Kreider. He was married to Christine E. (Hyde) Kreider on December 23, 1966.
Donnie was an avid outdoorsmen which took him on many hunting and fishing trips with his friends and family. Aside from the love of the outdoors, he was a gifted woodworker. At any given moment he was busy in the “Wood Shop” designing and crafting many pieces large and small. He was in his happy place, as long as he was measuring, cutting and sanding. Donnie was a working man, retired from Crystal Pools Inc after 32 years of committed service. Donnie always had his hands and mind busy finding ways to craft a part for a mower or find a way to solve a problem. He loved to watch birds which flocked to his bird feeders around the pool and would sit for countless hours watching the hawks which nested in the nearby wooded area around his home.
A Veteran of the Vietnam War, Donnie proudly served with the U.S. Army. He honored the American Flag with dignity and respect at all times. Many conversations included politics and the love of his country. He was a proud American.
In addition to his wife of over 52 years, he is survived by two daughters: Jestine Reider, of Elizabethtown and Renee Olson, married to Rick, of Elizabethtown. Also surviving are Patricia Condran, sister, married to Mike, of Palmyra. Donnie was a proud Pap Pap to five grandchildren; Nathaniel and Patrick Kreider, sons to John Kreider; Amber and Autumn Young, daughters to Renee Olson and Colton Reider. Son to Jestine Reider. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John Kreider.
