Dr. Robert N. Kratz, Ed.D.

Dr. Robert Norman Kratz, Ed.D., 80, of Elizabethtown passed away peacefully on December 31, 2017 at theMasonic Village Elizabethtown.  He was born June 30, 1937 in Norristown to the late Elizabeth (Krenger) and Norman W. Kratz.  He is survived by his loving spouse Ann (Kerney) Kratz.  He was a devoted husband, father, and educator. 

After graduating from Council Rock High School in 1955 he earned a degree in Forestry at the University of Maine in 1959.  Later he earned a Masters and Doctorate of Education from Temple University.  He joined the United States Air Force in 1960, attended Officer Training School and was a member of the Strategic Air Command. He earned the rank of Captain prior to being honorably discharged.  He was Superintendent at Radnor, Shippensburg, and Elizabethtown Area High Schools.  Robert was an elder in the Presbyterian Church and a faithful member of Derry Presbyterian Church.  He was a member of Abraham C. Triechler Lodge No. 682 Masonic Lodge, a Rotarian, an avid outdoorsman, and a member of the Otter Run Fish and Game Club.

He is survived by a son, Eric Robert Kratz; a brother, Richard A. Kratz and wife Barbara; 3 step-grandchildren, Amina, Naomi, and Jelani; and 5 nephews.  He was predeceased by a son, Jonathan Kerney Kratz. 

A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 6, 2018 at 11 AM at Derry Presbyterian Church, 248 E. Derry Rd., Hershey 17033.  Visitation will follow the services.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown 17022. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Love INC, 245 E. Derry Rd., Hershey 17033.
