James E. Rutherford

James E. Rutherford, 84, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital.  Born at home Saturday, February 2, 1935, in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late Robert W. and Orella (Diffenbaugh) Rutherford.  He was married to Nancy F. (Schroll) Rutherford November 4th, 1956.

James was retired from the U.S. Army, employed by New Cumberland Army Depot and Manheim Auto Auction.  He enjoyed watching all Philadelphia sports, the outdoors, walking his dogs, and watching his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren’s sporting events.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, of Elizabethtown, he is survived by two children: Keith E. Rutherford of Elizabethtown and Kent W. Rutherford of Belvidere, IL.  Also surviving are four grandchildren: Derek Boyer (Jamie) of Elizabethtown, Darla Boyer (Adam) of Harrisburg, Brandon Rutherford (Gretchen) of Machesney Park, IL, and Ryan Rutherford of Belvidere, IL; four great grandchildren: Evan, Colton, Easton and Carson as well as two sisters: Dorthy and Jean.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda E. Boyer and a brother Carl.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10 AM on Monday, May 20, 2019 at Mount Tunnel Cemetery, Elizabethtown, PA, with the Reverend Dr. Galen E.
