James (Jim) Henry Snyder, 74, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Lebanon VA Medical Center on Friday, December 8, 2017. Born in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late Orville and Anna Mae (Brosey) Snyder-Risser.

He shortly worked as a welder at Fruehauf in Middletown.  He continued his maintenance career with Armstrong Ceiling for 40 years. After retirement, he worked part time at Manheim Auto Auction in Manheim and Enterprise Rental Company at Harrisburg International Airport.  He was loved very much by his family and friends.  He was a member of American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).  He was an avid deer hunter and enjoyed racing, riding atvs, playing cards and dominoes with his family and friends.  In the wintertime, he enjoyed plowing snow, doing donuts in the snow with his vehicles.

He is survived by his daughter, Jodie Young (Travis), granddaughter Avery Young of Georgia, step daughter Denise Shank of Elizabethtown, step granddaughter Janelle Shank of Millersville, brother Ed Snyder (Sylvia) of Lancaster, two sisters Marian Newhouse (Robert) of Harrisburg, and Jeannie Snyder of Florida, three nephews and six nieces. He was preceded in death by his infant son and nephew Michael Snyder.

All are welcome to join the family in a Celebration of Life on Saturday, December 16, from 1-3 pm at Country Meadows Restaurant, Elizabethtown. Burial will be private at Good’s Mennonite Cemetery.
