Jamie E. (Sweeney) Bryant, 75, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at the Hershey Medical Center. Born Saturday, November 7, 1942 in Manchester, VT, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Lois (Stewart) Sweeney.
A strong believer in Jesus Christ, Jamie was a longtime member of the Elizabethtown Brethren in Christ Church and served the congregation in various ways over the years including teaching Sunday School, helping with the Youth Group and serving as the librarian. Jamie was a faithful “Prayer Warrior” supporting those she knew personally as well as people and situations throughout the world. Early in her life, Jamie cared for others as a nurses’ aide at Mary Fletcher Hospital in Vermont. She then focused her attention on raising her children before returning to the nursing field as a visiting nurse.
Jamie loved her family very much and had great joy being “Nanny B.” to her grandchildren. She considered herself a “voracious” reader, enjoyed journaling, feeding the birds on her front porch, was intrigued by butterflies and accumulated an extensive collection of angel figurines.
She is survived by her children: Michael Bryant (husband of Amy), of Mount Joy and V. Grace Reinard, of Ephrata. Also surviving are two grandchildren: Parker and Calista Bryant, both of Mount Joy.
A Celebration of Jamie’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Elizabethtown Brethren In Christ Church, 996 East High Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. A time of visitation will follow the service. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022, 717-367-1543.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Jamie’s honor to Paxton Ministries, 2001 Paxton Street, Harrisburg, PA 17111 or to the Compassion Fund at Elizabethtown Brethren In Christ Church.
