Janel M. Ortity

Janel M. Ortity, 56, of Bainbridge, passed away of natural causes on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Lancaster General Hospital.  Born Tuesday, February 19, 1963 in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Gerald S. and Shirley A. (Bair) Ortity. 

She is survived by two sisters: Sherry K. Ortity, wife of Dennis K. Goldinger and Tracy A. Snyder, both of Elizabethtown.  Also surviving is her companion of over 15 years, Haywood H. Wedge, of Bainbridge; nieces: Samantha, Miranda, Shenny, McKenna and Kylie; nephew, Kory; a sister-in-law, Terri Snyder, as well as Janel’s extended family and caring friends.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Kerry S. Ortity.

The family requests that you celebrate Janel’s life by taking a friend to lunch, forgiving someone or just by being kind and passing it on.  Janel lived her life with compassion, kindness and a genuine hope that others would get the most out of life.  She was so much fun to be around, so go have some fun and remember her.  Live life to the fullest and smile when you think of her.

Janel was able to donate her corneas to give two people sight, her skin to help a burn victim and her bones for a bone cancer patient.  Thanks to Gift of Life Donor Program for helping to honor Janel by making this possible.

Private services and interment will be at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements have been entrusted with the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022, 717-367-1543.
