Laura M. Dunkelberger

Laura M. (Wentzler) Dunkelberger, 95, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2017 at Masonic Village. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Esther V. (Hoerner) Wentzler. She was widowed by her husband William M. Dunkelberger in 2009.

Laura was a graduate of York High School, Thompson College and York Junior College. She then worked for York Hospital as a medical secretary. A homemaker, and secretary to the family construction business while her four daughters were growing up, she later became a real estate agent. As an active member of Christ Lutheran Church in Elizabethtown, she served on church council, the stewardship committee and taught second grade Sunday school there for many years. She was also a member of the Elizabethtown Historical Society, the Elizabeth Hughes Society and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an accomplished pianist. She will be lovingly remembered for her quick wit and warm heart.

She is survived by four daughters: Jane Long (Jesse) of Lewisberry, Norma Dunkelberger of Manhattan, NY, Doris Dunkelberger of Roebling, NJ, and Joyce Maher (Thomas) of Little Egg Harbor, NJ; two granddaughters: Angela McKinney and Kristen Figueroa; three great grandchildren; and sister Esther Simpson of Dallas, TX.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. on September 30 at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 125 E. High St., Elizabethtown, PA 17022.   Arrangements have been entrusted to Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market St. Elizabethtown. 717-367-1543

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Laura's name to Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, The Elizabeth Hughes Society's Women FOR Women Scholarship fund, or the Elizabethtown Public Library.
