Maxine L. (Schlusser) Obenstine

Maxine L. (Schlusser) Obenstine, 78, of York, formerly of Elizabethtown, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at Rest Haven of York. Born in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late Maynard Schlusser and Ruth (Stover) Quinnanola.  Her husband of 45 years, David N. Obenstine, preceded her in death in 2003.

Maxine worked at Kmart in Mechanicsburg for 10 years as the manager of the appliance department.

She is survived by four children: Ruthanna M. Sheffer (Richard A.) of Dover, Anna M. Carey (J), David N. Obenstine, IV, and Russell R. Obenstine (Brenda L.), all of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two sisters, Nancy Adams and Patricia Ettinger.

A Celebration of Maxine’s life will be held at 10 AM on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Heidelberg United Church of Christ, 47 West Philadelphia Street, York, PA  17401.  Burial will follow in the West Green Tree Cemetery, Elizabethtown. Arrangements have been entrusted to Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown, PA 17022. 717-367-1543.
