Mildred E. "Mickey" (Heffernan) Peters

Mildred E. “Mickey” Peters, 94, of Elizabethtown, passed away, on Thursday, November 2nd, at Longwood Manor in Maytown. She was surrounded by her loving family. Born July 18, 1923 in Washington DC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas T. & Eleanor (Wood) Heffernan. She was married over 50 years to J. Russ Peters who passed away in 1996.

Mickey was a long time member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Elizabethtown. She was a member of the Council of Catholic Women and Elizabethtown Senior Citizens where she enjoyed bingo and Pinochle. She was a charter member of the VFW Fred Barley Post Ladies Auxiliary. Mickey was an avid Phillies fan, enjoyed reading, and spending time with her family.

Mickey is survived by a son, James R. Peters and wife Sally of Sussex, WI; three daughters: Carol Ann Betz and husband Kenneth of Mount Joy; Brenda J. Landvater and husband Gary of Elizabethtown and Dawn M. Kline and husband William of East Petersburg; 16 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a brother Howard Heffernan of Metairie, LA.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by five sisters: Lorraine Kirchgessner, Mary Matyas, Anne Pendleton, Catherine Perry and Margaret Tatum; and two brothers: James and Theodore Heffernan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Historic St. Peter Catholic Church, Park Street and Cherry Alley (behind Elizabethtown Post Office), Elizabethtown, PA 17022 at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be Monday, November 6th at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown from 6-8PM. There will be no visitation prior to mass on Tuesday. Interment will take place in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia.

The family would like to thank the staff at Longwood Manor Memory Care Unit for the loving care and compassion shown to Mickey and her family.
