Nancy E. Koontz

Nancy E. Koontz, 78, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. Born in Salemville, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Mildred (Foster) Ebersole. She will be lovingly missed by her husband of 57 years, John E. Koontz and family.

Nancy was a member of the Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren since 1966.  She worked many years as a registered nurse, starting her career at Bedford County Memorial Hospital and retiring from Penn State Hershey Medical Center in 1998.  She had the art of juggling, handling many tasks with grace.  Along with her full time work schedule, she alongside John grew, canned and froze the yummiest fruits and vegtables.  She also nurtured her beautiful flower gardens, was a skilled seamstress, enjoyed knitting, photography and traveling.  Nancy also had a very gentle touch, loved animals, and truly enjoyed being outdoors.  She was a member of the local Red Hatter group.  Nancy adored her grandson, and attended every sport’s game he was in. At the end of the day, Nancy was a true caregiver, and always put family and others before herself.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children: Pamela Hudson (Todd), and Susan Harris, both of Elizabethtown, and Brian Koontz (Cheryl) of Media, grandson Nicholas Hudson, and brother Thomas Ebersole.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30PM on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren, 777 Mount Joy St., Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Visitation will follow the service.
