Nevin Garber Hiestand

Nevin Garber Hiestand, 71, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Monday, September 24, 2018, Born Monday, June 30, 1947 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Christian and Mary (Garber) Hiestand. He was married 43 years to Hope E. (Reesor) Hiestand.

Nevin retired as the owner/installer of Hiestand Floor Covering in Elizabethtown. A United States Marine, he was a decorated veteran of the 1stBattalion, 9thMarine Division who served in Vietnam and is a Purple Heart recipient. Nevin graduated from Elizabethtown High School. He was a life member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion, AMVETS and the Marine Corps League. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, being outdoors, gardening and farming. Nevin was also a member of Ashara-Casiphia Lodge #551, F&AM, Mount Joy, Lancaster Lodge of Perfection and Harrisburg Consistory.

In addition to his wife Hope, Nevin is survived by a daughter Denise Shenigo of Marietta; a son Toby Hiestand of Trout Run; three grandchildren: Madison and McKenzie Shenigo and, Toby Hiestand, II; and three brothers: James Hiestand and wife Denise of Indiana; Dale Hiestand and wife Lucy of Bainbridge and Clyde Hiestand and wife Naomi of Columbia.

Nevin was preceded in death by a daughter Carey Lynn Hiestand who passed away in October 2017.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 1, 2018 at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown at 7:00 PM. There will be no viewing. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until the time of service. Interment with military honors will take place on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Route 934, Annville, PA 17003. Those planning to attend the interment should meet at the administration building no later than 10:45 AM.
