Col. Henry Paul Brown

Col. Henry Brown Obituary

Col. Henry Paul Brown, USA Ret., 90, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Saturday, November 21, 2020.  He was born in Vestaburg, PA on Election Day, November 4, 1930 to the late Henry Thomas and Agnes Irene (Vinoverski) Brown.  He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Susan (O’Dell) Brown.

 

Paul was employed by: The Daily News, Monongahela, PA; US Steel Works, Clairton, PA; and The Pennsylvania Army National Guard as a training officer and an administrative officer.  He retired in December 1983 from the Guard employment and service.

 

After retirement; Paul worked for Jack Gaughen Real Estate; and the Veterans Outreach Program as a service officer.  He also served 34 years with the 28th Infantry Division enlisting in Co A, 1st Battalion, 110th Infantry Regiment while in his senior year of high school, being “Called to Service” during the Korean War as private being promoted to LTC with the last assignment as Battalion Commander, 228th Supply & Transport Battalion.

 

Paul served his church as a Special Minister of the Eucharist, a lector and a member of the choir.  He was an Oblate of Saint Benedict, also the Holy Name Society as President, Knights of Columbus as a Past District Deputy, Grand Knight, Faithful Navigator; Chair of the Festival committee and a member of the first advisory board of the parish.  Service and social organization included The American Legion, Military Officers Association of America, and The Kiwanis Club. 

 

In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters: Martha Susan Brown and Stephanie Marie Lackey; son, Paul Thomas Brown; grandchildren, Kyristen Lackey, Harry Brown, and Chantelle Brown.

 

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Recorded services will be published on Thursday, December 3rd, 2020 at www.FinkenbinderFamily.com. Burial will take place at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery with full military honors.
