Florence (Stewart) Yarian

Florence (Stewart) Yarian, 101, of Sharon, PA,  passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. She was born August 26, 1921 to the late G.A. and Essie (Steele) Stewart and lived the majority of her life in Mercer County, and most recently of Palmyra. She married Paul M. Yarian on June 15, 1946 and he died on May 25, 1984.

She graduated from Sharon High School and continued her education at Slippery Rock University. She retired from Hermitage School District after teaching for 30 years. She was a lifelong member of the Covenant Church, Sharon, a charter member of coupler’s class, retired teacher’s association, college club of Sharon, and the Delta chapter of Gradale.

Florence is survived by her children: Martha Sue James, David Yarian and wife Patricia; grandchildren, Christopher Sorrells, Marc Sorrells, Amy Zimmerman, and Holly Folkemer; and 7 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 2PM at the Covenant Presbyterian Church, 263 E. State St., Sharon, PA 16146. A time of viewing will be held at 1PM until the start of the service. Viewing will also be held on Monday, June 5, 2023 from 10AM until noon at the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home, 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078. Burial will be private Hillcrest Memorial Park, Inc., Hermitage, PA. 

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her memory to her church, Covenant Presbyterian Church.
