Gladys Catherine (Blantz) Bordlemay

Gladys Catherine (Blantz) Bordlemay, age 95, formerly of Palmyra, PA passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at Frey Village in Middletown. She was born July 13, 1924 in Annville, PA to Howard and Fannie (Ober) Blantz. She is preceded in death by her parents, brothers Mitchell and Charles Blantz; her husband Russell Bordlemay, a daughter Sandra Jean Bordlemay and a grandson Bradley Bordlemay. 

Gladys wed Russell Bordlemay on December 30, 1941 and they were married for 41 years until his death in 1986. They were loving parents to five children, Sandra Jean Bordlemay, David (Jeannie) Bordlemay, Pam (George) Essip, Cindy (Ken) Freeman and Gayle Bordlemay.

Gladys was retired from Kraft Foods and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Palmyra. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Gladys was a talented cook and baker, and over the years, was well-known for baking and sharing thousands of cookies, treats and her famous Opera Fudge, with family and friends at Christmastime and holidays. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, family and friends

In addition to her four children, Gladys is survived by six grandchildren:  Steven Haehnlen, Chris (Yadira) Bordlemay, Jesse (Stacey) Freeman, Joel (Crystal) Freeman, Joshua (April) Freeman and Erin (Joseph) Leighty; thirteen great grandchildren:  Renee (Rob) Travers; Jennifer Haehnlen; Brenden, Kameron, Kayden, Brohdon and Easton Freeman; Landen and Elise Freeman; Emily, Evan and Elllie Bordlemay; and Maddox Leighty and one great-great grandchild, Camden Haehnlen.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Burial will take place at Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra, PA.
