I only today saw on Facebook that Coach Cassie had past last Sept. I was at Easton for his first year there and was privileged to have been coached by him for 3 yrs. His motivation and enthusiasm were infectious and his love for his players and football showed in everything he ever did. Now, approaching 67, I still think of him and remember vividly lessons learned from him that always stuck with me and are in large measure responsible for many life success I've experienced. He taught will, determination, hard work, and desire always triumphs over those with more talent and ability, who don't use what they have. He taught me that if you wanted something badly enough, you will get it. RIP, Coach. I'm sure you are in Heaven motivating Angels even to be better.

Just learned of the passing of Coach. A very sad moment now in my life. Coach got 110% out of me and made me realize that I could accomplish anything I desired if I worked hard enough. What a great human being. Other than my parents, I realize Coach gave me direction and encouragement that I needed. Thank you very much "Coach", I will never forget you.

My sincere sympathies at the passing of your husband/ father. He was a great man. I have very fond memories of his kindness and happy energy. He accomplished a great deal in a short time for our town and football program--including an undefeated season and scholarship for my brother. Your family will be in my prayers.

Kathy,
I know Jacks passing leaves a hugh hole in your heart and I am at a loss for words. We had good times together at East Stroudsburg as Jack and Mel worked their way thru college. We were like starving artists. You are in my heart and prayers.
Send to you with love.

Dear Kathy and family,
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Jack's passing. I have so many fond memories of him from our first years at PAHS. To me, he was larger than life! Do you remember my hitching a ride to Lancaster with your family in order for me to visit my then-boyfriend? Jack taught me the short-cuts! I loved his practical jokes that came complete with great graphics and cartoons. I am so happy that I saw both of you several years ago at the Hall-of-Fame banquet. Please know that Jack is truly a legend in Punxsy. We will never forget him and the joy he brought to our lives. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Cass was one of a kind. I am proud to say that I taught with him and learned from him. He taught me that you're never too old to do a cart wheel across the stage in front of the entire student body and that it's always all about the kids.

Dear Kathy & Cassabaum family, I don't know if you remember me, but I used to teach the small children at the Punxsutawney Gymnastic School you started. I fondly remember Jack's enthusiasm and positive attitude. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. I know he will be sadly missed.

So many memories of Coach. I was a faithful fan of his and admired him for his love of sports as well, if not more the love of his athletes and students. He was an amazing mentor and friend to many. Thank you for allowing him to be part of JP McCaskey HS. Memories are forever! Cassebaum...Cassemaum...OHHH...AHHH...what we cheered every time he entered the field.

May peace be with you and your family
Sincerely,
Betsy

So sorry to hear of your father's passing. I graduated with Jill and my husband grew up with her. I recently reconnected with Jackie in Baltimore and it was so nice to hear how you are all doing. One thing Jackie told over and over was how close you are all! Your dad was a great man and obviously raised a wonderful family! You are all in our thoughts and prayers!

Kathy and family,

It hurts to know that Jack has left us here and passed on to heaven. Your husband influenced so many people; many in ways that he probably never knew. I went to school with his brother Joey. I grew up at the Masonic Homes vegetable garden, and admired Jack more than anyone knows. As a kid, Jack was my hero. As an adult, I was honored to consider him my friend!

I'm sorry about Coach Cassebaum's passing! I did not play for him, but I was one of the equipment managers for the 1971 J. P. McCaskey football team. I learned a great deal from Coach about respect, commitment. He helped me to believe in myself during a time when I found that a very difficult thing to do, and I have always been grateful to him for that. I am praying for you family and for all who knew him.

Coach Cass helped create memories for high school football players across Pennsylvania that will last a life time. I was fortunate to play both high school and college football, but days spent under Coach Cass at Elizabethtown are my most memorable and most cherished sports memories. I can only hope that my children get the privilege to be coached by someone with same charisma, leadership, and inspiration as Coach Cass. Thanks for all the great memories.
