Kenneth Paul Freeland, 72, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on Thursday, May 18, 2023. He was born Sunday, July 30, 1950 to Pauline Alice (Watson) Freeland and the late Kenneth George Freeland, Jr. He is survived by his loving wife, Gale Elen (Milano) Freeland.
Ken had a passion for basketball, he was a part of the Central Dauphin District 3 Championship team in 1966-1967 and later went on to coach the 7th grade boys basketball team at Lower Dauphin Middle School. He is in the Hall of Fame at Susquehanna University for basketball. Although he never played professionally, he was drafted to play baseball with the Cincinnati Reds. Later in life in his spare time he enjoyed painting, bowling, watching ice hockey, and golfing. More than anything he enjoyed spending time with his grandkids. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by his son: Sean Freeland and wife Lauren (Decembrino) of hummelstown and their son, Tyler Michael; daughter, Amanda Kessler of Elizabethtown and daughter Emma Rayne; siblings, Kathy Harren and husband Thomas, Linda Danner and husband Rick, and Daniel Freeland and husband Luke; former wife and friend, Deborah Freeland; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 1 PM to 4 PM at the Champions Sports Bar, 300 2nd St., Highspire, PA 17034.
