LeeRoy G. Winters, 83, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2020, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Mount Joy Township. Born Monday, February 22, 1937, in Elizabethtown, he was the son of the late LeeRoy J. and Elsie E. (Frysinger) Winters. He was married to Mildred A. (Diegel) Winters on July 31, 1986.
A veteran, LeeRoy proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He owned and operated his own paving business out his home in Mount Joy for several years. LeeRoy loved traveling with his wife, spending time with his family and putting together puzzles. He was also a member of Milton Grove United Methodist Church, Mount Joy.
In addition to his wife of over 34 years, he is survived by four children: Iona E. Witmer, married to Howard, of Elizabethtown; Marlin E. “Nick” Winters, married to Tracy, of Mount Joy; Jeffrey D. Winters, married to Donna, of Elizabethtown and Peggy S. Harry, married to Matthew, of Elizabethtown. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 8 siblings: Kathryn, Myrtle, James, Jen, Thelma, Betty, Edith and Harvey, as well as LeeRoy’s extended family and caring friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, LeeRoy G. “Chip” Winters, Jr.; a grandson, Nathan Winters and a brother, Marlin.
A Graveside Service will take place at 10 AM on Saturday, October 3, 2020, in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens, 845 Laurel Hill Road, Columbia, PA 17512, with military honors. A Memorial Service will follow at Noon on Saturday at Milton Grove United Methodist Church, 2026 Cloverleaf Road, Mount Joy, PA 17552. A time of visitation will follow the memorial service at the church on Saturday.
