Marvin “Butch” H. Espenshade, 74, of Elizabethtown, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Lancaster General Hospital with his daughters by his side. Born Thursday, October 20, 1949 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Ruth (Eisenhauer) and John Marvin Shaud, Sr.
Marvin was retired from Exelon. Honorary member of the Ironworkers Local 404 and Master Rigger in the nuclear industry. A few of his assignments included the construction of the 7-Mile bridge in the Florida Keys, construction of TMI nuclear facility, multiple reentries into the damaged unit 2 reactor for clean-up activities and the replacement of the last steam generator for reactor unit 1. He was called back from retirement numerous times to provide his expertise.
Butch was a proud 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and member of the Abraham C Treichler Lodge 682. He lived the life of an expert outdoorsman with big game, waterfowl, decoy carving and fishing. He was Captain and owner of King Hunter fishing charters in Oswego NY on Lake Ontario. An avid fly fisherman and tier, his favorite trout streams were Young Woman’s and Kettle creeks in PA. He was an original and lifetime member of the D&D Rod and Gun Club in Clinton County PA.
Surviving are two daughters: Trudy D. Miles (Terry A.) of Bainbridge and Tina L. Espenshade (Nate Wilson) of Breezewood; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Marvin was predeceased by two brothers: John M. Shaud, Jr. and Donald E. Shaud.
Visitation with family will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA 17022 from 1:00-2:00 PM. A Masonic Service will be conducted by Abraham C. Treichler Lodge #682, F&AM, Elizabethtown at 2:00 PM with a memorial service to follow.
