Paul Richard Dietz, 89, of Palmyra, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at Londonderry Village. He was born Tuesday, December 29, 1931 in Hershey to the late Harry and Irene (Bream) Dietz. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Evelyn (Bell) Dietz.
He graduated from Lower Paxton High School and served in the US Army during the Korean War. He served the Department of Defense at the Olmstead Air Force Base and then Indiantown Gap for over 30 years, retiring as the automation management officer. His rare technical skills and talents earned him high praise, awards and accolades during his professional career. He was an active member of the Palmyra Church of the Brethren, Shellsville VFW Post 9639 and Palmyra American Legion Post 73. He was a member of the Palmyra Fire Company’s ambulance crew for 23 years, volunteered with the American Heart Society for 52 years where he was a member of the CPR instruction faculty. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by all.
He is survived by a daughter, Ann E. Behnke and husband Andrew of VA; three grandchildren, Rebecca Behnke of MD, Jonathan Behnke of NC and Sarah Behnke of VA. He was predeceased by a brother, Harry Dietz; two sisters, Ruth Web and Florence Coy.
A funeral service will be held Friday, June 11th at 11 AM at Palmyra Church of the Brethren, 45 North Chestnut Street, Palmyra, PA 17078. Family and friends are invited for viewing from 10 AM until time of the service at the church. Burial with full military honors will follow in Gravel Hill Cemetery, Palmyra.
