Sally I. (Michaelson) Makuch

Sally I. Makuch, 78, of Palmyra, PA passed away in her home on Monday, June 22, 2020. She is survived by her loving husband John Makuch. 

She found great joy in being a loving wife, mother, sister and aunt. She was born to Lorena and Edward Michaelson in Des Moines, Iowa. In addition to her husband she is survived by her children Gail and Jeffrey Makuch, her sisters Susan Olson and Nancy Michaelson, and several nieces and nephews.

Sally was an artist and a teacher of art. She taught in Missouri and Connecticut and was a member of the Hershey Art Association. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Drake University and a Master’s degree from Western Connecticut State College.

She produced work in widely varied media including wood sculpture, woodblock printing, ceramics, and oil and watercolor painting. More recently her work included folk art and Japanese Sumi-e painting. She also enjoyed bird watching and nature. She was deeply concerned about the environment and social issues as well.
