Sandra "Sandy" Lee (Folks) Lawrence

On Wednesday, January 29, 2020, God called Sandra “Sandy” Lee Lawrence, 72, home to Heaven.  Born Saturday, March 22, 1947, in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Mildred (Mayers) Folks.  She was the wife of Theodore Lawrence, Jr. who passed away on September 19, 1983.

Sandy was a 1965 graduate of Middletown Area High School.  Sandy worked for and retired from Bell Telephone Company (presently known as Verizon). She was a member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Middletown.  In her family church, her faith was nurtured and blossomed.  Before being limited by illness, Sandy was an active member of many church organizations including the Women’s Missionary Society and the church choir.

For over the past 12 years Sandy resided at Lancashire Hall in Lancaster.  During her residency, she was a regular attendee to the Sunday worship service, an active participant in the daily social activities, and a source for a beautifully pleasant smile and frequent laughter (usually associated with watching Steve Harvey on Family Feud or listening to the scuttlebutt around the nurses’ station).  At Lancashire, she was liked by all, friend to many, and beloved by the nurses and staff.  

Sandy wholeheartedly loved and was loved by her family.  She is survived by a son, Jan-Michael Lawrence of Lancaster; a sister, Brenda Thomas and her husband, Robert of Middletown; a brother, Williams Folks and his wife, Nancy of Annapolis, MD, and by several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.  She was predeceased by her eldest sister JoAnn Chivis.  

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, February 7, 2020, at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church, 329 Market Street, Middletown, PA at noon.  The viewing will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service.  The interment will take place in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.
