Velma A. (Smith) Grimes

Velma A. (Smith) Grimes, 84, of Hummelstown, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, June 6, 2023. She was born Thursday, August 4, 1938 to the late Walter and Mary Smith. She was predeceased by her loving husband Simon A. Grimes, Jr.

Velma loved to spend time with her family, she enjoyed beach trips, traveling, and the casino. More than anything she was loving mother, grandmother, great, grandmother, and sister. Velma retired from Dauphin Deposit Bank and Mold Base Industries when she was 65.

She is survived by her children: Kevin Clair and wife Tracy of Mechanicsburg, Michael Grimes and wife Paula of Missouri City, TX, Karen Eckels and husband Michael of Grantville, and Debbie Brooks and companion Myron of Halifax; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and sisters Pauline, Ruth, and JoAnne. She is predeceased by her sisters Louise, Betty, and Wilma.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023 at 12pm at the Rothermel-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 25 W. Pine St. Palmyra, PA 17078. A time of viewing will be held from 10am until the start of the service. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park, Harrisburg.
