Ella Mae (Scott) Zell

‪Ella Mae (Scott) Zell, 75, of Elizabethtown, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, November 26, 2016 following a courageous battle with cancer.  Born June 7, 1941 in Nageezi, New Mexico, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Grace (Hoseasa) Harrison.  She was married to Kenneth K. Zell on June 17, 1967.

From early on, Ken and Ella Mae both longed to serve Christ.  It was, therefore, no accident that a young dairy farmer from Pennsylvania would fall in love with a Navajo school teacher while serving with Bretheren Volunteer Missions in Lybrook, New Mexico. As newlyweds they returned to Pennsylvania and farmed for several years before anwsering a call to the mission field. They joined Wycliffe Bible Translators in 1975 and served in Colombia, South America until 1995 and Waxhaw, NC until 1999. After Wycliffe, Ella Mae continued to be actively involved with missions, serving on the Lebanon Valley Bible Church Missions Board, Awana, and taking a personal interest in mentoring the church's youth towards a life of service to Christ. She always had a gift for hospitality, and loved hosting meals and overnight guests whenever the opportunity arose.

In addition to her husband of over 49 years, she will be lovingly missed by her children: Connie L. Gockley and husband, Randy, of Elizabethtown; Anthony S. Zell and wife, Jodi, of Elizabethtown; and Kristopher S. Zell and wife, Kara, of Raleigh, NC.  Also surviving are 8 grandchildren; a brother, Samuel Harrison and wife, Virginia, of Durango, Colorado and an Aunt, Mary Thompson, of Lybrook, New Mexico as well as Mary’s children, Roberta Hurley, Etheleeen Sandoval, Celestine Thompson and Ernestine Simpson.  She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Keziah A. Zell.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:45 AM on Friday, December 02, 2016 at the Lebanon Valley Bible Church, 1482 Horseshoe Pike (Route 322), Lebanon, PA  17042 with Pastor Chandler Cutting officiating. Closed casket visitation will be held at the church from 9 AM until the time of the service on Friday.  Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday in the West Green Tree Cemetery, Elizabethtown, PA.  Arrangements have been entrusted with the Miller-Finkenbinder Funeral Home & Crematory, 130 North Market Street, Elizabethtown, PA  17022, 717-367-1543.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ella Mae’s honor to the Lebanon Valley Bible Church Missionary Fund and mailed to the address above.
