Belinda K. (Kline) Good

September 30, 1958 ~ February 27, 2016 (age 57) 57 Years Old

Belinda Kline Good, 57, of Elizabethtown, died on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Lancaster General Hospital of Valvular Heart Disease. Belinda was born September 30, 1958 in Annapolis, Maryland to the late Benjamin and Beverly Kline of Dundalk, Maryland.

Celebrating over 34 years, Belinda was married on May 30, 1981 at the Dundalk Church of the Brethren in Dundalk, Maryland to Philip Good. It was at that church 51 years ago - her family’s home fellowship, Phil’s parents, Monroe and Ada Good were placed in pastoral ministry for 16 years.  You could say that it was divine intervention that joined their families together in faith and enabled their lifelong love journey.  Belinda grew up on Ormand Road in Dundalk, Maryland which was “God’s Country”, as her father Benny taught her and would often say.  She learned well and lived out her mother Beverly's favorite words of wisdom on what to think about before speaking and relating to others, "Is it true, is it kind, is it necessary?".  Her early years spent living with her family in Dundalk were filled with joy and friendships that were the foundation for her caring, sharing spirit. Belinda was a proud 1976 Patapsco High School graduate.  She played on the field hockey team, was the team manager for their state championship soccer team, and sang for the concert choir. Belinda moved away from Dundalk after marriage. However, Dundalk and all it meant to her family was never further away than her next thought, phone call or Facebook post.

A 1980 Elizabethtown College graduate with an Elementary Education degree, Belinda started her teaching career at the Dundalk United Methodist Pre-school soon after graduation. As newlyweds living at Mechanics Grove and Holtwood in Southern Lancaster County Pa, she was part of the founding staff for the pre-school day care program at the Ware Presbyterian Home of Oxford Pa.

In 1985, Belinda and Phil returned to the Elizabethtown area after purchasing the Shaw-N-Tee family campground business, which is currently the local KOA. For the next four years, she started her stay-at-home educator/entrepreneurial Mom phase of her life. With 50 acres of camp fun, swimming pool and sun…she was in Hostess Heaven for those who came to visit and stay there.  After leaving the campground in 1989, over the next 10 years she dabbled with other business ventures like Longaberger Baskets, Pampered Chef, served as Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren custodian for two years, but her true business was that of being a Fantastic Mother! During these days, she put her education training into practice as #1 Assistant Soccer Coach to Phil and their kid’s teams or any team the Good Family was tied to.  She served as the Site Coordinator for the Star Soccer Academy for over 20 years at the Elizabethtown College Camp.  She earned World Class Soccer Mom status through countless games from peewee ball to HS to E-town College to a variety of professional clubs to even rival teams such as Messiah/Scranton/Lebanon Valley Colleges…if there was a player she knew on the field, it was always game time! Her indomitable fan spirit spilled over to any event she could connect herself to. Whether it was sports, music, dance, or anything really… being a fan filled her living with treasures that can’t be measured.

In 1998, Belinda formally returned to teaching where she showered her unique style of educating on her students all the way up to her last day of life. Belinda was a beloved teacher working in the Elizabethtown Area and Donegal School Districts, through Substitute Teacher Services.  Mrs. Good, recently nicknamed “Mrs. Wonderful” by one of her classes, could be seen daily giving and receiving hugs from her students.  Belinda’s love for teaching flowed into her church communities of – Dundalk Church of the Brethren, Mechanics Grove Church of the Brethren, and Elizabethtown Church of the Brethren.  Through these fellowships, she witnessed and shared her faith in her always hospitable engaging manner.

She truly exemplified her alma mater’s motto of “Educate for Service”.  Her career calling was absolutely a labor of love.

Her unmatched passion for living life to the fullest revolved around her family, friends, and church. Her zest for living was infectious and always connected with others, leaving us all with an everlasting bond. She loved to sing, dance, travel, and spend time in the beauty of the nature. Her Heaven on Earth was her feet in the sand, the sounds of the ocean in her ears, and a sunrise or sunset painting the sky!

Belinda is survived by her four children: Rebecca Reynolds and husband Robert; Aaron Good and Lauren Flowers and newborn granddaughter, Madelyn Lee; and Jason Good, all of Elizabethtown; and Adam Good, of Boulder, Co. Also, a sister, Bonnie Kline Smeltzer and husband Ken, of Boalsburg Pa and nephew Jesse Baltimore, Md.
